I Analysis of the Teaching Contents The

purpose of this reading is to introduce students to English jokes. Two kinds of jokes are shown here. The first shows how different meanings can make something amusing. This is called “play on words”. The second kind of joke is a short funny story. Both jokes are very popular in English-speaking countries.

II Analysis of the Students

After one and a half semesters learning,the students have adapted to the teaching style of English class in senior high school and have accumulated some words, phrases and sense patterns. So they should have something to say in this unit although some students may still have difficulties expressing their ideas freely. Therefore, the teacher will guide the students to try their best to speak out and improve their oral English gradually.
