Unit 6 Clothes (1) Part A教学设计

I. Teaching objectives:

a) Knowledge objectives By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to preliminarily use the new words such as “wear/size /too”, remember the English sounds of “b”

and “p”

, sing the song “Who Is Wearing a T-shirt Today?” and know how to talk about the sizes of clothes.

b) Ability objectives By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read the words “T-shirt/big/small” and exchange their personal information about the sizes of clothes. c) Moral objectives Ss come into contact with foreign cultures and know something about people’s dressing habits in foreign countries. II. Teaching important and difficult points: Improve Ss’

listening and speaking ability, and build their confidence in English communication.

III. Teaching methods and studying ways Audio-lingual approach and communicative approach.

Ⅳ. Teaching procedure Step I: Warm-up and Lead-in This step aims to arouse Ss’ interest in the class and tell Ss the topic of this unit. i. sing the song “Follow Me” with them and dance to the music after greeting.

ii. the teacher points to her clothes and says that her clothes get wet after singing and dancing. That’s to lead in the topic “Clothes”.

iii. have a free talk with Ss about clothes.

iv. write down the title of this lesson on the blackboard. Step II: Presentation

1) Words and sentence pattern learning i. Ss enjoy the song Who Is Wearing a T-shirt Today? There are two new words in this song. The teacher will show Ss the new word cards “ T-shirt” and “wear”. She won’t teach them the pronunciations of these two words directly. Instead, She will have them review the English sounds of “sh” and “ear” in the words “fish”

“girl” and “ bear” to help them try to read the new words out.

ii. the teacher teaches the phrases “Size S/ Size M/ Size L/ Size XL”. She will help Ss have a better understanding of these phrases with the help of PPT and material objects. She will show them several T-shirts of different sizes and tell them which one is Size S/ Size M/ Size L/ Size XL. She will emphasize the pronunciation of “size”.

iii. the teacher selects one T-shirt at random and asks Ss to say what size it is. Next, She will ask two or three Ss to put on the T-shirts. That’s to present the phrases “put on” and “too big/small”

and have Ss learn these phrases.

iv. make dialogues with Ss to teach the sentence pattern “What size do you wear?”.

. 2)Text and English sounds learning

i. show Ss a picture about the text and have a free talk about it.

ii. have Ss watch the video about the text and imitate the sentences. Emphasis will be placed on these two sentences “ It’s too big/small.”.The teacher will write them on the blackboard and have Ss imitate the hand-writing on P47.

iii. have Ss listen to the tape twice and follow. And then practise the dialogue in pair or group.

iv.

have Ss learn the English sounds of “b” and “ p” incidentally.

Step III: Extension

i. Game: the rotating wheel. The teacher will write different sizes on the wheel and make it rotate optionally. When it’s rotating, Ss ask “Size, size, what size?”

When it stops, Ss tell the teacher that “it’s size S/M/L/XL.”

ii. Survey. Ss will work in groups of four to finish the table on P44. Step IV: Sum-up and Homework

i. Ss summarize the words/phrases/sentence patterns by themselves based on the blackboard design. ii. Ss read the text as naturally as possible and finish the tasks on their exercise books after class.
