Unit4 Body language Design idea This is the second part of this period. In this period,the main task is to guide students to have a good understanding of the text. Various reading activities are designed for students to get the main idea and detailed information of the text.After that,the students are expected to understand that different countries have different culture,and different culture has different body languages,we should use them correctly.

ⅠTeaching aims

1.

Get students to learn the key words and phrases by heart:spoken language,written language,body language,gesture,facial expression,posture,represent,misunderstand,in general,likely. 2.

Get students to have a good understanding of cultural differences and similarities in body language in different countries. 3.

Get students to cooperate with others to express their opinions and develop the interest in learning about foreign cultures.

Enable students to distinguish the differences in body language in different countries. 2.

Enable students to express their opinions in their own words.

Step1 Warming up

T:How do you communicate with others? Ss:speaking,typing,sending messages ……

Then, lead in spoken language, written language and body language and make students know the meaning of some gestures,facial expressions,postures.And then ask students what is body language?(Let them fill in the blanks.) Step2 Reading Task1 Fast reading What is the main idea of the text?(Get students to have a quick look of the text and answer the question.) Task2 careful reading

1.Find out the two cultural mistakes in para2.(Fill in the blanks :the first mistake and the second mistake.) 2.Read the para 3 and para 4 to get to know the ways of different cultures and make students to fill in the chart. Step3 Discussion Have the students to read the last para and discuss what we have learned

in this class.(Give time students to discuss with their group members and pick some students present their answers for the whole class.) Step4 Conclusion Since the whole class have discussed what they learned and done the presentations,we do this conclusion together and make students memorize the old saying:”When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.

Step5 Homework. Surf the internet or go to the library to search for more information about body language and present it to the class.
