Teaching Plan for Book4 Unit1 Using Language

Fan Yuwei ⅠTeaching material analysis This text introduces the famous woman doctor Lin Qiaozhi. The purpose of this text is to inspire students with great women of achievements. ⅡTeaching Goals: 1. Enable the students to get some knowledge about Lin Qiaozhi. 2. Enable the students to learn how to use what they’ve learnt to describe a person. 3. Let the students learn the skill of detailed reading. Ⅲ Key Teaching Points：

How to improve the students’ reading ability. Ⅳ Difficult points ：

1. How to find the key words in each paragraph / part & each passage. 2. How to help the students use what they’ve learnt to describe a person. Ⅴ Teaching procedures Lead in by showing some pictures of great women both at home and abroad. Step1 Lead-in (3min)

(1) Work in pairs. Ask students: When we talk about great women, what names come into your mind?(what do you know about her/what do you think of her/who else/ do you admire her?) (2) We know Last Sunday (Mother’s day) is quite special, right? Now let’s enjoy a riddle. Step1 Fast reading (3 min) Today I will introduce you to another great woman in China, whose name is Lin Qiaozhi. Show the pictures of LQZ’s diary. (to impress students with her elegant handwriting and spirits)Now class, what we will do is to read the passage for the first time and answer the questions here. 1. What period did Lin Qiaozhi live in? 2. Where is she born?

3. What is her occupation/profession/job? Step2 Detailed reading (7min) Deal with the text part by part. First read by themselves and then discuss within groups. 1. For whom and for what purpose did Lin Qiaozhi write a little book about how to look after babies? Why do you think it was necessary?

2. Was it easy for a women to get medical training at the time LQz lived? Why? 3. What do you think are the important qualities that a doctor should have?

4. What are the three achievements of LQz? Step3 Exercise (4min)

Ask the students to Use the words and expressions from the passage to replace the underlined parts of six sentences.

(4min) 4. Read a short review of the video and find out ten mistakes. (4min) When I was watching the movie Roman Holiday, a beautiful girl catch my eye. I observed her careful and fell in love with her. So I referred to the video about her and founded that her story was inspired. When she was young, she led

poor life. Though she married three times, nobody looked down in her. She was delivered to two son.

She was extremely sadness when she got divorced(离婚). However, she carried

with her career. She devoted all her life to acting. It was her determination which made her successful. In support of Audrey Hepburn , I argued my friends into becoming her fans . Step5. Homework Write down your career dreams, and discuss about how to achieve your dreams.
