Module 4 Unit 10 Wind教学设计 Part I. Teaching Preparations课前准备

a.Analysis of Teaching Material教材分析

This book is for pupils in Grade Five. Background on the reformation of curriculum, this book emphasizes the interests of the students.

This lesson is about wind. The study of this lesson will help students to understand different wind conditions and describe them. Moreover, Unit 10 is an important part of this book. Based on the demands of quality education and the purpose of learning language, I try to help the students to use language comprehensively. b.Analysis of the students学情分析

The students in Grade 5 are young and full of energy. So I designed many kinds of teaching activities in order to help our students to learn English well. c. Main Design Idea设计思想

On study the teaching material and analyze the regulation of children’s growing of mind, I put forward the teaching objectives according to English syllabus and new lesson standard.

d. Teaching Aims教学目标

The basic tasks of English teaching in primary school are arousing and facilitating students’

interest to learn English, having students setting up their confidence, forming good study habits and efficient study strategies and developing students to be able to study actively and cooperate with others freely.

Under the foundations of analyzing the textbook thoroughly,I found teaching aims, important points and difficult points of this lesson according to students’

real situation as below.

1. Knowledge Aims

1)Students can listen and say the new words and sentences 2)Be able to use formulaic sentences to describe wind; 3) Students can understand different windy conditions and describe them

2. Ability Aims 1)Understand the poem . 2) Understand and use the sentences in text and use them freely in real situations. 3) Facilitating students to be able to use the language and use the knowledge that they learned to describe things around us.. 3. Emotion Aims

1)Students can observe things around us carefully. 2)Arouse students’ interests to learn. Make students set up confidence of learning English. Develop students to have the abilities of communicating with others. 3) Propose students to protect our earth.

Teaching key points教学重点

1)Be able to listen and say the words: gently, strongly, slowly, quickly. 2)

Be able to use the proper tenses in context. Teaching difficult point 教学难点

Facilitating students to be able to use the language and use the knowledge that they learned to describe things around us. e. Teaching preparation 教具

Multimedia computer f. Studying methods教学策略与手段

The task-based method, communicated method, group cooperation method will be used in this lesson. Through the group cooperation study, initially grasps the conformity sentence pattern. Raises the student English synthesis expression ability. Part Ⅱ. Teaching process教学流程

In order to realize the teaching process systematically, properly and efficiently, under the principle of ‘regard students

as the corpus, the teacher inspires for predominance’, I divide the teaching process into five steps. Step one: Warm up A famous educator once said, to arouse the interest of the students to attend and study, is the key to lead the new lessons. So first, I’ll show a riddle to students. It gives the students a wonderful atmosphere in learning English. Then I’ll lead in a picture about wind. Well begun, half done. After that, I’ll ask them to sing a song about strong wind. The wonderful beginning of the new lesson, it always brings the fresh and kind feeling to the students. Step Two: New teaching

Then I’ll ask students to say what they can see in the song then show a text about the song. Let students read the text in pairs. I also lead in two new words ‘strongly’ and ‘gently’. After that show other new words ‘quickly’

‘softly’

and ‘happily’. Students use the new words to make new sentences. I’ll also read a chant of the song. Students use the new words to make a new chant then say it with a rhythm in groups. It will give a good grounding to the students to use these vocabularies to communicate. I can also develop the students in the power of observation.

Next, show a mind map. Let students imagine what they are doing in the gentle wind. Students can discuss in groups then share their ideas. Let students read a short paragraph about gentle wind then lead in another new word ‘slowly’. This time students read in pairs.

Step 3: Practice I design to practise in three steps just like this:

a. Students listen and enjoy the poem. b. Students try to say windmill then read the poem with music. c. Students read the poem together then try to use the key words to recite the poem with their team members. Practise these exercises step by step. It can train the students in speaking.

Step 4: Expansion

First, show a video about windmill. Students can know wind is very useful in our life. Let them talk about what can wind do for us. Next, let students write their own poem about wind then read for others. Finally, show some pictures about wind damage. Tell students we can use wind to do more things and protect our earth. The expansion shows the knowledge of this text, the key

points will be clearer.

I used the inductive method, which shows key words and sentences through the simple blackboard writing, in order to make students know the main points and difficult points clearly. Part Ⅳ. Homework课后作业部分

1、Read and enjoy the poem. 2、Finish Workbook. 3、Observe wind in your life and talk with your partner. Part Ⅴ. Summary 总结

The teaching of this lesson developed students’ interests of English and their language technical abilities. Students need more oral practise to improve their speaking ability.

As an English teacher, to make our English lessons shine with vitality, I lay with heavy burden, and I still have long way to go.
