Writing: How to write a composition step by step?

Teaching time: The 16th Week Teaching content The writing of book4 unit3 is “how to write a humorous story”. Considering the letter of invitation has always been the hotpots in College Entrance Examination for many years, thus, I think it’s high time that students should be improved by thematic training. Therefore, I change the writing into how to write a

letter of invitation.

The analysis of the students Writing is very important in English. Although students used to write this kind of articles many times in examination, they still can’t get higher scores, because most of students didn’t master the basic skills and methods of writing. What’s more, the letter of invitation has always been the hotpots in College Entrance Examination for many years, thus, I think it’s high time that students should be improved by thematic training. This period aims at helping students have a basic understanding of the form, structure, tense and some writing tips of a letter.

The analysis of teaching material

There are many types of letters in Writing, and the letter of invitation is most important in recent ten years in College Entrance Examination. So,it is very necessary for students to master it well. Teaching goals

Knowledge goals: 1.Learn how to write a composition about a letter of invitation 2.Learn how to use advanced phrases and sentence patterns in their English composition. Ability goals:

To make students have some basic skills of writing. Emotion goals:

1.To get rid of being afraid of English composition. 2. Students will be more interested in English learning while sharing their ideas with others. Teaching Aims After this lesson, students will be able to know how to write a letter of invitation step by step . Teaching important points

Enable students to know how to write a composition about a letter of invitation. Teaching difficult points

Enable students to know how to use the key words to make sentences and use some advanced sentences to complete a coherent composition.

Six students as a group and ask students to think about how to write a letter of invitation. After that, ask two or three students to report their answer.

After the groups have finished their writing, ask the groups to check their writing. ( use red pens to revise)

Show the groups’ writing and check together. ( show two groups’ writings)

After that, show students one possible version of the writing. Dear Henry, I'm Li Hua, the leader of the paper-cutting club in our school.

Now I'm glad to tell you there will be a Chinese paper-cutting exhibition held by our school. I sincerely hope you can set aside some time for the art feast. The exhibition, whose theme is "beauty of China", will be held in the school hall from 2 to 5 on the afternoon of Jan, 1st. Not only will our club's works be displayed, but we also have a valuable set of paper-cutting created by a famous artist of this field. Besides, there will be a lot of

interesting activities, from which you can have a clearer picture of Chinese culture. I would appreciate it if you accept my invitation. I'm sure it can leave a deep impression on you! I'm looking forward to your reply.
