1. Lead-in: T: I will go to Beijing this summer holiday. Look , what am I doing? Ss: You are buying gifts. T: I want to buy some gifts for my family. There are four people in my family. And I need a gift for everyone in my family. So how many gifts do I need? Ss: Four gifts. 【设计意图】

通过老师去北京、给家人买礼物，引出本课话题。贴近生活，容易引起学生的兴趣。初次出现How many … do I need?，根据实际情况，学生能理解本句话。

2. Make a dialogue. 3. First-reading (text)

T: Li Ming is in Canada now. He will fly home. He loves his family. （学生带着问题快速阅读，找出教师所提出的两个问题答案）

Let the students read the text silently and quickly and answer the two questions. ) How many gifts does he need? What gifts will Li Ming buy? 【设计意图】

初次读课文、感知课文，回答问题。通过这三个问题，帮助学生理解本课的重点，并培养学生自主找课文大意的能力。再次出现How many … does he need?，学生对此句的理解更加深刻。
