Module9 Unit1 Are you gonging to run on sports day?
Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material
This unit is aiming at how to ask and answer about one’s plan. This is the first unit in this module. The dialogue is about sports. The main structures are “- Are you going to + base verb…? –Yes, I am./ No, I’m going to+ base verb….” These sentences are the foundation of this unit, which are the teaching key points. Ⅱ.Analysis of the students The students in grade 4 have learned some words and sentences about sports. They can talk about the sports they are going to do. They’re interested in English especially when it comes to sports day, and willing to speak more on this subject.
Ⅲ.Teaching aims 1. Aims on the knowledge (1) Students can understand, read and say the new words and new phrases: sports day, win, month, hundred, metre, every, day, luck, good luck, come on.
(2) Students can understand, read, say and use the sentence structures “Are you going to run on sports day? Yes, I’m going to run the 100 metres.”
2. Aims on the abilities (1) To help the students to talk about and make plans by using the future tense with “be going to”. (2) To develop the students’ listening and speaking abilities.
3. Aims on the emotion (1) To foster Ss’ consciousness of good cooperation and proper competition. (2) To help the students to develop a good habit of physical exercise. Ⅳ.Key points The use of the new words, and the new sentences structures. Ⅴ.Difficult points (1)The pronunciation of the phrase “one hundred metres” and “everyday”
(2)Be able to say the sentence“- Are you going to + base verb…? –Yes, I am./ No, I’m going to+ base verb….”
(3) Be able to talk about one’s plan in different situations. Ⅵ.Teaching methods “Task based teaching method”, “communicative language teaching method” and “TPR teaching method”.

Ⅷ. Teaching procedure Step 1: Warming up 1.Greetings. 2.Play a game. 3. Watch a video about sports day and learn the new words. Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Lead-in
T: Today we’ll talk about sports day. We’ll learn Module9 Unit 1Are you going to run on sports day? 2.Learn Part 1:
(1)Watch a video of part1 and the chant together with the actions. (2)Learn the key structure and how to answer it. Step 3 While reading 1.High speed reading (skimming)
Listen point and underline the sentences with “Are you going to
…?”
2.Detailed reading (1) Ask students to watch the video and answer the following questions.
①What is Daming going to do on the sports day?
②Is Daming going to school now?
3. Read the text together. 4. Learn the rest of the text (1) Learn the new phrases “come on and good luck”. (2) Ask the students to read the dialogue with a sense of proud, and tell them try hard to be a winner.
4. Consolidation of text. Play a game named wheel of fortune. Step 4. Production Ask the students to make a plan for coming sports day. Ⅸ. Homework (1) Listen and read the text three times.★
