Book 9 Unit 3 Australia Reading 1st period Teaching content The content of my lesson is New Senior English for China Book Nine, the first period of “Reading”

part in unit3.This unit is about Australia .By studying of this lesson, students will get to know more about Australia, such as it’s geographical condition、politics、customs、cities and resorts. Meanwhile, student’s reading skills will get improved. Therefore, this lesson is of great importance in unit 3. If the students can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit. Teaching aims 1)The students can understand the content of the lesson, talk about Australia, and get their own idea about Australia. 2)The students can develop their ability of reading and speaking. 3) The students can learn how to talk about some cities and attractions they have known . 4)The students can get interested in the wonderful world. To broaden the international horizon of the students. The important and difficult points 1) Train the students’ reading ability

Analysis of the students This lesson is designed for senior one students. Most of students have average or poor basic knowledge of English. After studying in school for half a year ,they have mastered some reading skills and learned to express themselves in English. Therefore, I will design some teaching activities to make students actively participate in and develop their reading skills. Teaching methods Cooperative learning and discussing Teaching aids A computer; A projector and some slides;

Teaching procedure 1、Warming up 1)Use the question as a lead-in. “How are you going to spend your summer holiday?”

2)Guessing game Teacher presents some pictures and let students guess what’s the name of this country. 3)Present some famous places of Australia. Let students answer questions. ① what places do you know in Australia , such as well-known cities. ②Look at the pictures and find out what places they are. ③Point out the exact location of famous places on the map. 2、Reading Step1: Fast reading[class work] Task1: Students are required to go through the passage and get the main idea of the whole passage . Task2: Let students get the main idea of each paragraph or choose the main idea of each paragraph presented on ppt. Step2: Careful reading[class work] Task: I will guide students to read the material carefully and answer questions about the passage. 1)

Fill out the forms. 2)

Find out the public transportation and tour routes in the passage. Step3: Post reading[class work] Task: Let students summarize the main content of this passage. Step4: Discussion[pair work and group work] Let students discuss and introduce someplace they want to go(at least 3-5 sentences). Conclusion. Summarize of the full text. Step5:Homework assignment 1)

Retell the passage. 2)

Write a short article about your favorite city/country.
