Teaching Material

This lesson is selected from Unit1 (Grade 3 Book B by Hebei Education Press). This lesson is about the words of animals on the farm, too. It mainly talks about these words, cat, dog, duck and chicken. It also talks about sentence structure “what’s this?”and“Is it/ this a cat?” It is related to daily life, so it’s helpful to raise students’ learning interest and to develop their speaking ability.

Analysis of the Students

The students of Grade 3 are active and curious. They are eager to English with teacher’s help. And they will be interested in talking about these animals on the farm which they are familiar with in English.

Let students listen to the tape to guess “what’s this?”. (Intention: To raise students’ learning interest and to review

the words in lesson 1.)

Step 2. Presentation and Practice

1.New words

Let students listen to the tape to guess” what’s this?”. (Intention: It’s easier for students to learn and understand new words by sound and pictures and pronunciation based on what they have learned. )

Game 1

(Intention: To practice new words in a funny way.)

Game 2

Let students chant together.

Let students read words loudly or quietly.

When a word flies up,students stand up and speak it out

loudly. When a word flies down,students sit down and speak it out loudly.

Through various teaching activities, students are active and emotional. They learn the new knowledge easily and happily. They can communicate with each other, using the new words and sentence structure. They can improve their listening, speaking, reading abilities.
