Warming up and Words preview. Read the words after the tape, pay attention to the students pronunciation. 2. Tell something English PUN. What is a pun? Ask the students to enjoy the PUN

in the jokes. 3. There are thousands of jokes which use “play on words” to amuse us. Now read some of

these customer and waiter jokes. Can you match the joke with the explanation below?

step 2 Reading 1. role play Read a short, funny story on Page 22 about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Doctor Watson. Then change the story into a short dialogue. Act it in groups of three—

Ask the students to read the text and answer the questions on the blackboard.
