Analysis of material

“Do you want some rice”is taken from the New Standard English, book 3, Module4.The function is talking about food. Ss have learnt some foods , for example: meat, rice, noodles, fish. And this lesson will use these words to talk about”

Do you want some rice? Yes, please./ No, thank you. Here are … and …. What do you want? and so on. We will talk about difference between Chinese food and English food. This topic is related to the students’ daily life, and it’s easy to make students to use the target language to communicate with each other. Part 2

Teaching objectives

Part 4 Teaching and learning methods 1. Teaching methods Based on the new teaching aims, the main teaching aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of listening, speaking and good sense of their English language. So in this lesson, I will mainly use “Task- based method” and the TPR method. Besides, the phonics method will be used in this period.

2.Learning methods

Since the fourth grade Ss are interested in English learning , they can

learn English by guessing, listening, speaking and reading .And pupils can master key points by cooperating with others. Part5

Step 1 Warming up

1．Greetings：

Hello, boys and girl. Let’s begin our class with a chant, OK?

2. Say the chant：

Noodles and rice Are very, very nice Juice with ice, is also very nice 3.Elicit “juice with ice” from the chant.

(My purpose is to warm up the atmosphere by greeting and a chant, which can attract the interests of the Ss and prepare for the later study .) Step 2

Presentation

1.Learn

“food”.

(1)T: Noodles and rice, ginger and spice, juice with ice. They are all “food”. What’s the meaning of food? (Show a card of food.)Pay attention to the pronunciation “oo”

(2)Brainstorm: What food do you know?

After the Ss answer, T shows pictures of“tomato, egg, potato”

and leads the Ss to understand. (3) Compare Chinese fast food and English fast food

T: Now, look here. They are fast food. What‘s the meaning of fast food? Hamburger, chips, sandwiches are English fast food. Rice and noodles are Chinese fast food. (Teach “Chinese fast food”.) (Purpose：

It’s helpful to learn food before text, which can prepare for the later study.)

2.Learn“Do you want some…?”

（1）T shows some food and asks: Do you want some…?

If the Ss want, I will teach them: Yes, please. And give a happy face to them.

If they don’t want, I will teach then: No, thank you. And give a sad face to them.

At the same time, I will write the sentences on the blackboard. （2）

Group work：Playing cards

T gives different group a different food card. Such as：

milk, noodles, rice, juice, ice, potato, tomato and egg. And one Ss in group will

hold the food card, another Ss will ask others: Do you want some milk? or whatever other food, it depends on what food card they will get. And the left Ss in group will answer like this: Yes, please or No, thank you. (Purpose: self-study ability and cooperative ability will be improved.) 3. Learn “Here are … and …”What do you want?

(Purpose: Though creating a real situation as possible as I can, pupils’
