Learning objectives: 1.

Ability Objectives：

To improve skills of reading, listening and speaking.

Knowledge Objectives：

To have a better understanding of marathon. To learn good expressions in the speech text.

3.

Emotional objectives：

To learn the spirit of marathon: never give up.

To develop the spirit of teamwork and hard work.

Teaching procedures: 首先通过几张马拉松的图片来导入话题。

Step 1 Warm-up questions 1. What are the origins of the marathon? 2. What is the distance of a marathon? 3. 1f you want to run or watch a marathon do you have to wait for the Olympic Games? Why? 4. Why is the marathon the last Olympic event? 教学说明：通过问答环节来检查学生对课前阅读材料的掌握情况，增加学生对马拉松的认识。训练学生的阅读以及口语表达技能。

Step 2 Video time

教学说明：

由于视频没有字幕，且演讲者带有口音，第一遍观看视频没有问题设置，以此观察学生看完后的反应。

Step3 Second listening Try to get the answers to the following questions 1.Where does the speaker come from? 2.When did she have the idea to organize a marathon? 3.What does she think of the meaning of a marathon? 教学说明：观看第二遍之前，把阅读材料发给学生，让学生能够更好的理解视频内容。

Step4 Careful listening--- language focus Fill in the blanks in the material. Important words

Important phrases Important sentences 教学说明：这一环节需要学生专注视频材料的空格内容，写出空格处的单词。写完后让学生与小组成员讨论，并激励每一组派代表到黑板上写出答案，写出最多的小组获得奖励。然后，集中讲解部分重点词汇及句型，拓展学生的词汇量。

Step 5 Free talk What qualities are needed to complete a marathon? 教学说明：通过问题的讨论，突出视频的主题，马拉松需要的是不懈的努力和奋斗的精神。
