Step1. Pre-reading

Talk something about the poem ,answer some questions to lead in the poem Step2.Listening Ask the students to listen to the poem and focus on the rhythm and strong beats Rhyming words: you new 、need 、feed、

Step3. Discussion

Ask the students to discuss two questions and discuss it with

the partners. Questions: who is the speaker in the poem and who is she speaking to? Give reasons to support your answers 1. When you were but nineteen. 2. Till you’re older you will not know. 3. I know no answers to help you on your way. 4 But if you need for love, I’ll give you all I own.

Maybe a parent is speaking to a young adult child, through these sentences we can draw the conclusion.
