Teaching steps:

1. Greetings:

Teacher: Hello, boys and girls. How are you?

Students: I’m fine, thank you. And you?

Teacher: I’m fine, too. Thank you.

2. Revision:

(1) Sing an English song and do the actions: Row, row, row your boat.

(2) Chant: Noodles and rice are very very nice.

(3) Teacher shows the pictures, get the students to say the words.

Teacher: (Shows a picture of noodles.)

Students: Noodles.

( Then “rice” “pears” “bananas” “milk” “chocolate” “fish” )

Teacher: OK. You’re very good.

3. Learn to say:

(1) Teacher shows a bag and asks, “What’s this? What’s in the bag? Get the students to guess “It’s a/ an …”.

(2) Then teacher says “Yes. It’s an orange. I’m hungry. I want some oranges.”. (Write “want some” on the blackboard.)

(3) Teacher eats some oranges and says, “Mmm. It’s very nice. Do you want some oranges?” Help the students answer, “Yes, please.” Repeat and write it on the blackboard.

4. Practice:

(1) Teacher asks, get the students to answer.

(2) Have the students ask and answer in pairs.

(3)Boys ask, girls answer.

5. Talking:

(1) Have the students read together. Students ask, “Do you want some noodles, Ms Wang?” Teacher shakes head and answers, “No, thank you.”

(2) Write the sentence structure on the blackboard and teach to read.

(3) Teach to read. Ask and answer in different ways.

(4) Have the students find their good friend, show some food and ask, “Do you want some ... ?”

6. Activities:

(1) Make a chain practice.

e.g Student1: Do you want some rice?

Student2: Yes, please. (To S3) Do you want some noodles?

Student3: No, thank you. …

(2) Have the students ask the teachers or their parents “Do you want some …?”.

(3) Make a competition. Invite a student to choose a picture and ask “Do you want some …?” Teacher makes a happy face or a sad face, the other students answer “Yes, please.” Or

“No, thank you.”.

7. Listen, point and say: Have the students listen to the tape and point to the pictures. Then listen again and repeat.

8. Exercises: Have the students take out their paper and listen and draw. Then check their answers.

9. Homework: (1) Read the dialogue and try to act it out. They can play it in the next class.

(2) Be a good child. After dinner, the students should give some fruit or drink to their parents. They can use this sentence structure “Do you want some …?”.
