Teaching aims Knowledge aims ：Master useful

words , expressions and sentence patterns such as evidence, explode, debate, take apart, rather than, think highly of and ask students to find the rules and definition of the attributive clause

Ability aims ：(1)Enable the students to recognize the meaning of a new word in a passage and tell them how to remember new words. (2) Enable the students how to understand between the lines.

Emotional aims: Train the students’ ability to cooperate with each other.

Teaching procedures Step 1 Revision. First, have a dictation of some words and expressions of reading part, then check the homework exercises.

Step 2 Exercise (1). Ask the students to find the word that means each of the following (Discovering useful words and expressions.) from the reading passage. (2)The students begin to do this exercise. After a while, teacher begins to collect their answers and give the correct answers. (3)Look at the sentence of exercise 3 and try to express each of them in another way. And after several minutes, teacher gives the answers.

Step 3 Translation exercise Do this translating exercise with the students together. Tell them how to do this kind of exercise.

Suggest answers: 1. This was a time when the two countries were fighting against each other. (at war) 2. She was working in the garden all this morning. (at work) 3. Children who are playing often make a lot of noise.(at play) 4. When we called, the family were having dinner. (at dinner) 5. What are they doing now? They are having their meal.(at meal)

Step 4 Grammar: Attributive Clause Exercise 1: Discovering useful structures

Let the students try to find out the Attributive clause in warming up and the reading part. 1. A cultural relic is something that has survived for a long time. 2. It is your job to look into any reports of cultural relics that have been found in China. 3. You are sent to a small town where you find a relic that was stolen from a palace. 4. The man who has it insists that it belongs to his family. 5.This gift was the Amber Room, which was given this name because almost seven thousand tons of amber were used to make it.
