Step1.Lead-in

Find V-ing form in the reading passage.

Step2. New lesson 1. –ing used as Subject(主语) 1) 动词-ing形式作主语表示抽象的或泛指的动作,谓语动词用单数

Seeing is believing．

Talking is easier than doing. 比较：

Walking is a good form of exercise for the old. It is not good for you to smoke so much today. 表示一般性、经常性的动作多用v-ing。

表示一次性动作多用不定式。

2)用形式主语it，把真正的主语——动名词结构移置句尾。但这种句子形式有一定的限制，作表语的只能是某些形容词或少数名词，如useful，useless，good，fun；no use，worth等。如：

和夏洛克争辩是没有什么用的。

It is useless trying to argue with Shylock．

这事值得去做。

It’s worth making the effort．

想再解释一次有好处吗? Is it any good trying to explain? 跟你在一起工作是令人愉快的。

It is pleasant working with you．

归纳：常用-ing形式作主语的句型有：

做……是浪费时间的

做……是没用处的

It is/was hardly/scarcely worth doing

做……不值得

2. –ing used as Object(宾语) 1.做介词宾语

2) to为介词,不是不定式标志的短语

3)做动词宾语

两个注意:

My sister's being ill made us worried. Your being late made the teacher angry.

要明确表示v-ing的逻辑主语,要在其前面加形容词性物主代词或名词所有格。

Not coming home in time made her parents worried. Mary’s not coming to the party

made us disappointed.
