Teaching goals: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: 1.

tell facts from opinions 2.

use some expressions to show their opinions and facts 3.

express their own opinions on protecting cultural relics Teaching important and difficult points: Focus-- accurately know how to tell facts from opinions. Difficulty--while listening, some blanks may be difficult to fill in and using structures to express their opinions is a little difficult for some students. Teaching procedures: Step1.Lead in 1.Watch a part of the movie, Twelve Angry Men. An 18-year-old boy from a slum(贫民窟) is charged with killing his own father. In a New York City courthouse, 12 jurors(陪审员) are discussing whether the boy is guilty or not.

2.Ask students :If you were the judge, which statements would you take into account(考虑）? 1). “I just think he's guilty.”

2). “I thought it was obvious from the word go.”

3). “Number one, the old man lives downstairs under

the room where the killing took place.”

4). “Said it sounded like fights.”

5). “They found the old man with the knife in his chest.”

6). “The coroner(法医) fixed the time of death around midnight.”

A fact is anything that can be proved.

An opinion is what someone believe is true but has not been proved.
