In Search Of The Amber Room

一、教学内容分析

本单元围绕Cultural Relics这一话题展开多种教学活动。本节课是介绍琥珀屋的历史。通过对本单元的学习，学生能够了解世界文化遗产，学会描述它们的起源、发展和保护等情况，提高文物保护意识和爱国意识。

二、教学目标

知识目标：使学生了解琥珀屋的历史，熟悉本课重点词语和句型。

能力目标：提高学生快速阅读的能力，形成快速获取和处理信息的能力。

情感态度目标：通过学习，使学生了解世界文化遗产，提高文物保护意识和爱国意识。

三、学习者特征分析

教学对象为高一学生，认知能力比初中阶段有了进一步提高，能够主动参与到学习生活中，但由于基本上是中考分数偏低的学生，英语底子薄弱，所以我提前让他们预习，在教学过程中尽量采用全英式教学，要因材施教，努力使他们融入到学习过程中。

四、教学过程

Step1. Lead-in 1.

Review some words and expressions of this unit. 2.

Show some pictures of cultural relics and ask them “What are these?”and “What do you know about it?” Ask the students to discuss the questions and then give them a definition of Cultural Relics. 3.

Show some pictures of amber and ask them “What are these?”, ask them to discuss the question and the give them an explanation.

Step2. Pre-reading Today we are going to learn something about an amber room.

We will enjoy a video and know more about amber. (about 8 mins) 2.

Ask students to predict what man be talked about in the passage by looking at the title and the picture of the reading passage. Step3. Fast reading 1.

Give students 5mins to read the passage quickly and find the answer to the question. 2.

Read the passage quickly and find out characters , years and places in the passage. Then ask a student come to the stage to show his answer. Step4. Careful reading Read every paragraph carefully and ask the students to find detailed information about the amber room. Step5. Discussion What should you do to protect cultural relics? Step6 .Homework 1. This class we had a discussion on what you should do to protect cultural relics. Please sort them out and write a composition about it. 2.
