Lesson 8 Tigers and Bears I .Teaching Aims: 1.Knowledge Aims:

Step One: Warm up and review

1) Greeting.

2) Guess the animals.

Show some pictures to the students and help them review the animals.

T:Today we will meet some animals friends. Look at the pictures.Guess. What is it? 【Purpose: By making use of pictures stimulate students interest in learning and lead to the new words.】

Step Two: New concepts 1.What’s this?

T:Mr.Monkey has a magic stick,it can change something. Look carefully,it will be change.

S: Change,change, change.

T:Oh,it’s a tiger.(Learn these words: tiger/wolf(wolves)/bear/snake)

【Purpose: IThe purpose of this is to present the new words in a special situation, help the students understand thd language easily and naturally. 】

2.Long or Short?

Show two snakes,teach the new words :long / short. Make gestures to show the meaning for long and short.

T:My hair is long. His hair is short.In our class, What is long? What is short?

S1:This pencil is long.This pencil is short.

S2:It’s long. It’s short.

S3:My hair is short. Her hair is long.

........

T:Look at these pictures,what are they?

S1:It’s a wolf.S2:It’s a dog.

T:Look at the wolf. Its tail is long.(Learn these words: long /short) 【Purpose: In order to help the students consolidate the new words and the sentences.】

Step Three: Practice

1.Do listening exercises.

Listen and Circle.

T:Now we will meet two animals. Listen carefully, what are they,what is long,what is short,then circle the answers.

Ask the students listen to the tape and circle the answers. [Purpose: To develop Ss’ basic ability of listening and speaking.]

2.Discuss the pictures in groups.

T:Look, here are more animals,discuss them in your groups.

3.Play a game.

Guide a guessing game.
