Lesson 13 Summer is coming

Part I. Analysis of the teaching material (教材分析)

This is the first lesson in Unit 3, it is very important. It reviews last lessons and it will be a basic of the next lessons. The main theme about this lesson is summer.

It is includes three parts :1.What season is it? 2. Summer fun 3. Let's do it! In Part1, It mainly about the weather and the trees in the four seasons. In Part 2, It's mainly about Jenny's and Li Ming's summer fun. In Part 3, We should fill in a chart about the four seasons.

This lesson is related to our daily life, so it can arouse the students’

interest to learn English and it can improve their co-operation and speaking skills.

Part II. Analysis of the students (学情分析)

The students are in Grade 6 in primary school now, they are very young and active. They have learnt English for about four years and have grasped a certain amount of English knowledge, they have learnt the present tense, the present continuous tense, the past tense and the future tense. The students learnt the four seasons in the last term. However, the students' ability of using English and reading is limited. They have interest to learn English and they are willing to co-operate and communicate with others in class. Therefore, all of these shall be taken into consideration in today's teaching.

Part III. Teaching key points and difficult points (教学重难点)

There is only one new word "fan" in this lesson, it is very easy.

So the key points of this lesson are to help the students listen, read and write the new phrases and the long sentences.

The difficult points of this lesson are use the new phrases and the long sentences correctly .

Part IV. Teaching aims（教学目标）

According to the New Curriculum Standard and the reality of my students. I design my teaching aims. There are three points in my teaching aims: 

First, Knowledge and skill objectives:

I want to enable the students to listen, read and write the new word "fan'' and ask them to introduce the four seasons, they should also say their own season fan. 

Second, Process and method objectives:

I want to develop the students' abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. And I also want to train the students' abilities of communication in the real situation . 

Third, Emotional and attitude objectives:

I want to educate my students to '' Enjoy seasons and enjoy life '' .

Part V. Teaching and learning methods (教学方法)

In this lesson, I’ll use the Audio-Visual Method to establish a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the students.

I’m going to use the Communicative Method to improve the students’

co-operation and speaking skills.

And I’ll use the Task-based Method to offer the students an opportunity to complete the tasks in which students use language to achieve a specific outcome.

At the same time, during the teaching process, the modern electricity teaching equipments and all kinds of teaching means will be used, it can mobilize the students' enthusiasm and creativity in learning English.

Part VI. Teaching procedures(教学过程)

According to the New Curriculum Standard and the reality of my students, I design my teaching procedures. Next, I’m mainly talk about them. I’ll divided my students into 4 groups and ask them to have a competition in class .

Step 1. Warm-up. (5 minutes)

1. I’ll greet to my students

2. I'll sing a song with my students, and the song is "How is the weather ? " It can rise the students enthusiasm to learn English and it is a basic of Part 1 .

3. I'll review the weather in different seasons with my students and then chant with them.

The Chant is :

Spring, spring, I like spring. warm and rainy, warm and rainy.

Summer, summer, I like summer. hot and sunny, hot and sunny.

Autumn, autumn, I like autumn. cool and windy, cool and windy.

Winter winter, I like winter. cold and snowy, cold and snowy.

4. I’ll play a guessing game with my student. I only show part of the pictures, the students should stand up and guess the seasons according to the pictures. (Justification: These activities can make the class active and review the last lesson.）

Step 2. Presentation. (15 minutes)

1. I will show the students the learning aims of this lesson and divide them into four groups and ask them to have a competition. The learning aims of this lesson is :

2. I will show the students some pictures and tell them to listen to

Part 1 with the task: What happens to the trees in different seasons? The students should listen carefully and fill in the blanks.

3. I will ask my students to give their answers.

4. Listen to the video and read Part 1. Then ask the students to introduce the four seasons, the volunteers show the introduction.

5. I will show the students about their spring fun and lead out summer fun. In this part I will review a lot of phrases with my students.

6. I will ask my students to watch Jenny's and Li Ming's summer fun. Then ask my students to summarize their summer fun.

(Justification: These activities can help the students to learn and the new lesson.) Step 3.Consolidation. (15 minutes)

1. I'll ask my students to enjoy a song, the song is "The seasons " which is sang by a little dragon .

2. I'll ask my students to play a game "I am a reporter ", they should interview different students and then fill in the chart: name season weather trees clothes like to do

I will give the students an example :

A:How is the weather ?

A: What happens to trees?

3. I will ask the students to say their harvest and then I will replenish their summery. At last, I will ask my students to do some exercise to challenge themselves.

4. I will show the students a season poem, The poem is :I like spring.

Spring is beginning.

I like summer. Summer is hope.

I like autumn. Autumn is harvest.

I like winter.

Winter is peace.

Then,

I will ask the students to make their own poems after class :

I like spring.

Spring is ______ .

I like summer. Summer is ______ .

I like autumn. Autumn is ______ .

Winter is ______ .

(Justification: These activities can help the students consolidate the new phrases and improve their co-operation and speaking skills. Step 4 Emotion education (1 minutes)

Step 5. Summary（1 minute）

I’ll summarize what we have learned today with my students and review this lesson. (Justification: The summery will make the students know what we have learnt today clearly.) Step 6. Homework (1 minute)

1. Share your poem to your family and friends .

2. Finish Part 3 and write a passage about the four seasons.

3. Make an English hand-written newspaper about summer . (Justification: The homework will be interesting to my students and the students will be glad to use English in life. The homework consolidates what we have learned today, and will be a basic of the next lesson .) Step 7. Congratulate the winners and encourage the losers. (1 minute)
