How to write a place introduction Analysis of the period: This is the fifth teaching period of this unit. In this period, the teaching emphasis will be put on developing students’ writing ability by reading extensively. Ask students to read through the passage and finish their reading task. Guide students to use some writing strategies. In order to arouse students’ interests, the teacher can hold a competition or in-class activities among them. Key teaching goals: 1. Enhance students’ writing skills by extensive reading. 2. Guide students to understand background knowledge through the passage. 3. Grasp the basic ideas of new words and expression through writing Difficulties of teaching: 1. Enable students to learn to use writing strategies 2. Guide students to understand some difficult long sentences in this part. Teaching Methods: Task-based approach: Group discussion, Q&A sections.

Three-dimensional teaching goals: Knowledge Objectives 1. Get students to learn some useful new words and expressions in this part: topic, mix, mixture, bush, maple, frost, confirm, wealthy, distance, mist, misty, schoolmate, booth, downtown, approximately, dawn, buffet, broad, nearby, tradition, terrify, terrified, impress, impressive, in the distance 2. Get students to read the two passages about Canada.
