The passage uses four paragraphs to introduce Yuan Longping: his appearance and achievement, his biography, his personalities and his dreams. The passage is quite long, some students may find it difficult to understand some sentences. But the structure of the passage is quite clear. Also there are not too many new words, so it is still suitable for students to practice their reading skills, like finding information and word-guessing. By reading they will realize the role that agriculture plays in human life. In fact this world faces a serious problem—starvation. So after reading the passage about Dr Yuan, students will know the importance of his achievement to man. Of course they will learn from Dr Yuan some noble character. 教材
