The Analysis of Teaching Material: This lesson takes from Part A of Unit3 in PEP primary English book 8. It concludes two parts: Let’s try and Let’s talk. The topic of this lesson is mainly about the trip of holiday. It is so funny that students will be fond of it and be willing to accept it.

The Analysis of the Students: The students are in grade 6. They have been learned English for more than 3 years. So they have known some basic English knowledge. So it’s easy to them to learn words and sentences. But it’s difficult to them to learn the tense. So I will be paying more attention on grammar and give them more chances to Practice.

Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aims: 1The students master the words and phrases: rode, hurt, fell off,

2. Ability aims: 1The students can ask others’ trip by using past tense.

○2The students can ask the people’s living condition.

The students can be stimulated good feelings of loving nature.

Difficult point:

Learn the sentences: I fell off my bike last Saturday and hurt my foot. They won’t be ready till August. How to

use past tense to express their holiday.

Teaching Steps: Step1: warm-up 1.

Greetings 2.

Watch video about Daddy, where are we going? (The purpose of these is to firm a relaxing learning atmosphere, making them go into the English world easily. And let students know what we will learn the content about trips.)

Step2: Presentation First, I will present a picture, and then I will ask students where did I

go and what did I do there. And present two pictures to them. Then I will ask students: was my trip good? The students through the pictures know I fell off the horse and I hurt my leg. So the students maybe answer: No, it was bad. Then I will write this sentence on the blackboard, and let them read after me. Second, I will present a map of China to students. Then I point Xinjiang to ask students: Where is it? Lead students to answer: It’s Xinjiang. And ask: Did you go to Xinjiang? After 5 minutes answering. I point Turpan to introduce: Here is Turpan. It’s very hot in summer. There are lots of grapes in Turpan. Then write it on the blackboard.

Third, before read dialogue, I will give them 4 questions to them. For example: When did John go to Turpan? And let students read the dialogue with 4 questions, Give students 5 minutes to read it. After 5 minutes, let students answer the questions. Then the teacher writes Labour day on the blackboard and introduce to students: Labour Day is May 1st.Then let students read after me. Forth, I play the video of let’s talk. Then let students read after it. (The purpose of these is to help students understand the meaning of the dialogue. And use the sentences in their daily life.)

Step3: Practice 1Role-play:

Invite two students to come to the platform. One is Amy. ○The other one is John. Then read this dialogue.

2Train game:

the whole class will be divided 2 groups. Group1 and ○group2 will have a competition. They will work in groups to make sentences one by one by using the sentence pattern they have learned. (The purpose of these is to help students practice the content what we learned.)

Step4: Consolidation Pair work:

two students are in pair, making dialogue about holiday of them.

Eg: S1: Where did you go over your holiday?

S2: I went to Sichuan.

S1: What did you do?

S2: I saw some pandas. I ate hot pot. (The purpose of this is to cultivate student’s comprehensive ability and cultivate their courage of self presentation.)

Step5: Summary and Homework Summary: Let students to tell others what they learned about. 1Read this dialogue expertly. Homework: ○2 Introduce your holiday to your friends by using English.

Teaching Reflection: This lesson mainly learned about the past tense. And the students can introduce their holiday with it. Through revision, the students can review some phrases they learned. It lays a solid foundation for the dialogue in this lesson. So at the link of presentation, it’s easier to let students understand the dialogue. And at the link of consolidation, through pair work, stimulating the students’

enthusiasm of using language and improving students’ ability of comprehensive.
