Teaching By the end of the class, the students will be able to form the preliminary concept of memorizing objectives and enlarging the vocabulary with the tips of compounded word, suffix, phrase.

Step 1:Lead-in

Step 2: Tip 1

Activity 1:Give examples of compounded word to the students and ask them to find out the

compounded words in unit 4 when they know what a compounded word is; Teaching

Suffixes steps Activity 2:The students speak out the other form/forms of the given words; Divide the students into 2 groups and ask each group to discuss what are suffixes they find and what would happen to the word if a suffix is added to; Ask the students to give more examples of the words ended with the suffixes they find.

Step 3: Tip 2 phrases

Activity 3:The students speak out the Chinese for each phrase and do the exercise;

Activity 4:The teacher reads the words and phrases of 1.1 /1.2/2.1 and the students repeat after the teacher. Dictation:2 minutes are given to the students for them to memorize the words and phrases just read.

Step 4: Review

Activity 5: Fill in the blanks with the words and expressions learnt in the period. The passage is also an introduction to the reading, which they are going to learn the next period; Ask the students to read out the passage after checking the answers.
