Analysis of teaching materia

After years of English learning, it is not difficult for students to finish a writing task according to given information. Nevertheless, students often have difficulties in developing the article and make it beautiful. This writing task is from the monthly exam and students have practiced writing similar article before, which means they have an idea of the format and characteristics of this descriptive writing. However, most of them show obvious deficiency in adding reasonable details to further develop their article and beautify them. As an analysis lesson, the main objective of this lesson focus on teaching students some skills to add reasonable details to develop a writing and most of the complementary teaching materials are from the students’ original works.

Analysis of students

The students are from Class 2, Senior 2 in Guangzhou No. 97 Middle School. Since this monthly exam was designed by our school teachers, there was a practice writing with teachers’

guidance given to the students to enable them to have a better mastery of this letter type. However, for average students, their performance in expanding the article is still far from reaching our expectation, as revealed in their writings. Therefore, students are in need of training on how to further develop their article and cultivation of their divergent thinking.

Teaching Aims

Emotional aims:

After learning the lesson, students will be able to have a more positive attitude towards writing revision and learn to appreciate the beauty in writing.

Knowledge aims:

After learning the lesson, students will be able to: have a better idea of how to add reasonable details into their writing to enrich the key points. Ability aims:
