Step 1 Warming up and Lead in 1.

Daily greeting. 2.

Make a dictation about the previous words: cow, farm, sheep... 3.

Play the song Old MacDonald Had a Farm for the students or show the animals on the farm and ask the question: what can you hear（see）? (设计理由：营造和谐的英语学习氛围，使学生带着愉快的心情进行学习状态，通过诵读儿歌激发兴趣，同时复习旧知识引出新单词。) Step 2 Presentation and Practice 1.

Ask students to read the new words “cat, chicken, dog, duck” by showing the pictures of them in the classroom. Enable students to read the new words by the method of phonetics. Ask students to read them after the teacher. And then guide students to spell the words.Pay attention the spelling of duck and chicken.

Sentence patterns Ask students to listen to the sentences and find the sentence patterns about asking and answering the names and numbers of the things. Teacher will guide students to go through the picture on the right side. Point to a group of pig and ask “What’s this? Is it a duck?”

Students: “ No, it isn’t. It’s a chicken. Teacher: “ Is this a duck?”

Students: “ Yes, it is.”

Sing a chant to help students to master the sentence patterns easily. (设计理由：通过朗读句子，及时复习了新单词。通过说唱，更快地让学生掌握住本课中的对话。) Step 3 Production 1.

Two students are a group. Give them three minutes to practice the sentences with the part 3. Then invite some groups to show their results. The students who are the best can get the red flowers. 2.
