Working the land Grammar: Verb-ing Form as Subject and Object

Teaching content: Verb-ing Form as Subject and Object Teaching goals:

1. Learn the basic rules of Verb-ing form used as subject and object; 2. Learn to use Verb-ing form in speaking and writing; Teaching methods:

1. Learning through observation; 2. Learning through self-study and cooperation 3. Task-based learning Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming up Task A: pay attention to the usage of the ing form in our daily life. Task B: review the way of changing the verbs into the ing form. Step 2 Language points Task A:lead in: finish some exercises using the ing form. Task B:tell the difference from subject and object Learn about the use of Verb-ing as subject and object. Read the sentences in “Study the rule” and make sure of their meanings.

Get students to draw a conclusion about the basic rules according to the rule. Finish the exercises by applying the rule.

Use “it” as the form subject TaskD: learn to use Verb-ing Form as object Learn more about the use of Verb-ing as object. Show students some sentences with both Verb-ing form as object. Find out the rule by reading “Tips”.

Step 4 presentation Write about a person you love or respect very much. Get students to look at some pictures and read a sample first. Encourage students to use Verb-ing forms as much as possible. Share the work in a group. Share the work with the whole class. Step 5 Summary
