Teaching goals (教学目标)：

知识与能力：

1. 学会如何借助各种多媒体，了解、认识并利用数字化手段自主学习英语课文。

2. 养成以网络（计算机）作为工具，培养学生的存储能力、检索能力、多媒体表达能力、

协作学习能力、自主学习能力，让学生了解并掌握信息技术基本知识和技能，使学生具

有获取信息、传输信息、处理信息和应用信息技术手段的能力，培养学生的英语使用能

力，形成良好的文化素养，为他们适应信息社会的学习、工作和生活打下必要的基础。

过程与方法：

利用计算机媒体创设情境，激发学生学习英语的兴趣；通过网络查找相关资料，拓展学生的学习空间，提高英语阅读水平。

情感态度与价值观：

在学习过程中，让学生了解到，因为中外文化的差异，人们对幽默的理解不同，表现幽默的

方式也会不同，这往往也会引起理解困难；另一方面，通过各种幽默表现形式的展示，鼓励

学生保持乐观的人生态度，培养幽默感，陶冶情操。

Teaching procedures (教学过程)：

Step1 Lead-in

Reading three scenes about the customer and waiter jokes, then match the joke with the explanation. Scene One: C: What’s that fly doing in my soup? W: Swimming, I think! Scene Two: C: What’s that? W: It’s bean soup.

C: I don’t want to know what it’s been. I want to know what it is now. Scene Three: C: Waiter, will the pancakes be long? W: No, sir. Round.

Explanation: A: The first person is asking for information about time. The second person treats it as a question about shape. B: The first person is angry something and wants to say,: “Why is this here?”

The second person treats it as a request for information and gives an answer to the question. C: The answer to the question contains a word which, when spoke, can have two meanings.
