中学英语课程标准把培养学生的语言知识的综合运用作为一个核心素养，而高考中的完形填空题正是通过阅读考查学生语言知识综合运用能力，它既体现了高中英语新课程的基本理念，又体现出了对知识与技能、过程与方法、情感态度与价值观等课程目标的要求。

《新课标》中指出完形填空题集知识测试和能力测试为一体，涉及到词汇辨析能力、阅读理解能力、分析判断能力、逻辑推理能力和跨文化交际的能力等。教材分析

它主要考查考生在阅读理解的基础上对词汇知识的掌握情况，要求考生具有较强的词汇运用能力，充分利用题目给出的词汇信息，综合运用所学的词汇、语法等知识，结合上下文从所给选项中选出最佳选项，使短文意思通顺、结构完整。词汇是英语语言学习和运用的基本单位。帮助考生熟练掌握和利用词语复现（reiteration）这一解题策略去查找、核对、筛选高考英语完形填空各个小题的最佳选项，这对提高考生在这一题型的答对率是非常有必要的。
