Learning about language I. Teaching: Unit 1 Page 1-2(In search of the Amber Room) II. Teaching plan:

1.Teacher: Tang Gaoli 2.Students: Senior 1 students 3.Teaching items analysis: In this period we’ll come across the Restrictive Attributive Clause and the Non-restrictive Attributive Clause, of which the latter is the key point.

4.Teaching aims: 1)Revise the Restrictive Attributive Clause to help the students understand it. 2)Show some sentences about the students’ daily life to acknowledge what are the Non-restrictive Attributive Clause and its meaning, form and function. 3)The students can basically understand and grasp the basic skill to tell the differences between these two kinds of clauses.

5.Teaching difficulties: 1)The students have some difficulty in telling the differences. 2)They usually have great difficulty in understanding the function of the Attributive clauses. 6.Teaching procedure：

Step 1(6ms)

1)Show some pictures and ask students to describe the pictures.

2)Ask students to combine the sentences that they use to describe with relative words and make them become restrictive attributive clause. Step 2(12ms) 1)Show some non-restrictive attributive clauses that happen in our daily

life.

2)Give more examples of the non-restrictive attributive clauses.

3)Ask students to find out the characteristics and the form of the non-restrictive attributive clause. Step 3(7ms) 1)Give some pictures and ask students to make up a sentence and use non-restrictive attributive clause.

2)Give some translation and help students to do the translation. Step 4(10ms)

1)Show some restrictive attributive clauses and some non-restrictive attributive clauses.

2)Help students to find out the differences between them. Step 5(5ms)

1)Summarize the meaning, form, function of non-restrictive attributive clauses.

2)Summarize the differences of restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clause.

3)Homework: Ask students to review the restrictive attributive clause and the non-restrictive attributive clause.
