Teaching Design Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material

This teaching period mainly deals with the grammar: the use of the v-ing form as subject and object. Verb-ing form as subject and object is part of the use of v-ing form, and it is used often. So it is quite familiar to the students.

Ⅱ.Analysis of the students

Students have an average grades about 48 in English mid-term exam . They are still weak in English. And they often feel the v-ing form abstract and difficult, so it is necessary to make the lesson interesting and connect it with their daily life in order to let it easy to accept and understand.

Ⅲ.Teaching important and difficult points

★Teaching important points

1.Get the students to grasp which verbs can be followed by the –ing form. 2.Let students understand the use of “it” as object and get familiar with the sentence patterns like “It’s no use doing”.

★Teaching difficult points

1.Enable students to learn how to use the -ing form as the subject and object correctly. 2. Have students master which verbs can be followed by both –ing form and the infinitive but express different meanings.

Ⅳ. Teaching aims

★Knowledge aims 1.Get students to learn the –ing form as subject and object. 2.Have the students grasp which verbs can be followed by the –ing form. ★Ability aim Enable students to use the –ing form as subject and object correctly according to the text. ★Emotional aims 1.

Get students to become interested in grammar learning. 2.
