Students can develop reading skills and writing skills.

Teaching difficult points:

Students can talk about one day in their life.

Major steps:

Step 1 Greetings

Step 2 Lead-in

Boys and girls, I will show you some pictures about my summer holiday. At that night, I wrote a diary. (Read it together) Now, you can ask me some questions, such as where did you do?... Step 3 Do a guessing game and pair works.

A: Which season do you like best?

B: I like ____ best. Because I can_____________.

Step 4 Pre-reading

Amy is talking about her winter holiday, let’s listen and answer the following questions:

1. Where did Amy go last winter holiday?

2. How did she go there?

3. What did she do?

4. Who did she go with?

Step 5 While- reading

(1)Fast-reading

The teacher checks the answers.

(2)Careful-reading

Let the students play roles and talk about Amy’s winter holiday if they were Amy. (Justification: Students’ scanning skill can be improved through careful reading, from which they can master the way to find out the specific information of the dialogue.)

Then teacher asks several students to show their works.

Step 6 Post-reading

Fill in the blanks.

Step 7 Find out all the past tense verbs in the diary.

Step 8 Homework

Write a diary.
