教学目标

1. 通过谈论图片,能够学会使用句型:Is he looking at the moon? 以及答语

2. 通过图片的展示和动作示范,使学生能听、说、认读下列短语及词汇:look at the picture, talk about the picture, stand ,sit,

moon, sun, cousin. 3. 通过谈论有关趣味心理图片,让他们在谈论的过程中充分运用以上句型,并从中感受:横看成岭侧成峰的艺术美感,明白我们应该从多个角度看待一个事物的道理。

4. 通过小组竞赛的形式开展本课的系列活动,增强学生的合作意识及竞争意识。

学情分析

本课是Unit 5 I am cleaning the room的第五课时,同学们已经对现在进行时的用法有了初步了解,本单元要求学生掌握运用第三人称表达现在进行时的肯定句、疑问句及回答,本课是对时态的进一步学习,学习新的短语并应用。

本课试图通过竞赛活动的方式牢牢抓住学生们的注意力,增强学生的英语学习兴趣,这是符合五年级学生的心理发展特点的。

重难点

能够使用句型:Is he looking at the moon? 以及答语

教学难点:在实际生活中正确运用本课句型。

教学过程

Let us compete. Warm up---- Round 1 Show part of the following pictures: play the violin, play the guitar, write an email, clean the room. T: Now let’s guess: what is she/he doing?

Now, let’s have a look. Oh, he is looking at the picture. (Write on the blackboard) T: Is he looking at the picture? (Write on the blackboard) Ss: Yes, he is. (Write on the blackboard)

T: Now let’s look at this woman. Guess what she is doing?

S1: She is singing. T: I don’t think so. Is she singing, S2?

S2: No, she isn’t. (write on the blackboard) She is watching TV.

Is she watching TV, S3? S3: I don’t think so. (write on the blackboard). She is…

T: Good guess, but I don’t think so. Now, let’s have a look. Oh, she is just standing there. T: Is she just standing there? Ss: Yes, she is. T: STANDING, STANDING, STANDING. (read three times) T: I think so. Now look at this picture. Is she just standing? Let’s guess.

S1: I don’t think so. She is …, is she…, S2?

S2: No, she isn’t. She is…, is she …, S3?

T: Maybe she is looking at the rabbit. Different people have different ideas. Look at this picture. It’s very interesting. Let’s guess: what is she looking at? S1:…

S3: I don’t think so. She is looking at the child. Is she looking

T: Yes, maybe she is looking at the sun. THE SUN, THE SUN,

THE SUN ( read three times)

Different people have different ideas.

Talk about the standing horse, the sitting men and the moon with the same method. T: Peiran’s cousin is coming. Now let’s listen: what are they doing here?

S1: They are talking about the picture. T: Yes, they are talking about the picture. TALKING ABOUT THE PICTURE, TALKING ABOUT THE PICTURE, TALKING

ABOUT THE PICTURE. ( read three times)

T: Now let’s look at the family tree. This is Peiran, and this is

her cousin. Cousin is the child of Peiran’s uncle and aunt. So cousin can be a boy or a girl. COUSIN, COUSIN, COUSIN. ( read three times )

T: Listen and say: what are they talking about? Listen once and ask the students to answer and then listen again to

check it.

Talking about the class rules, talking about the family, talking about the school Round 3 Peter, Kate, Li Yan are her cousin are coming to the art museum too. They are talking about the picture. Now, listen: which picture are they talking about?

Listen twice and fill in the table. ( ideas of Peter, Kate, Li Yan

are her cousin )

T: From the table, what can we learn from it? Ss: Different people have different ideas. T: That’s right. And we should try to think from any possible angles.

Extended activities--- Round 4 Work in groups to talk about the pictures and then come to the

front to show it out.

Divide the whole class into six groups and each group has six students. According to the pronunciation, tone, content and the body language, the other groups give the score.

Homework 1. Tell a story or make up a dialogue

with your friends by using the following words and phrases. look at, talk about, stand , sit, sing, dance, play games

moon, sun, tree, apple, dog, flower, sheep man, woman, boy, girl, teacher 2. Draw a picture and then talk about it with your partner.
