Grammar 1.

Ask the S.s to underline the following sentences are from the text A PIONEER FOR ALL PEOPLE and translate them and pay attention to these boldface words. 1)

..., He cares little about spending the money on himself or leading a comfortable life. 2)

He also doesn't care about being famous.

3) His other hobbies include playing mah-jong, swimming and reading.

2. Ask some Ss. to say the function of these boldface words. 3. Explain the forms of “doing” to the Ss..

1) doing的形式:

(1) 一般式主动：

doing :

writing (2)一般式被动：being done:

being written (3) 完成式主动：having

having been written 否定形式：not+ writing

2) doing作主语, “做某事是……”

E.g. Reading aloud is very important for us to learn English.

Going to bed early and getting up early is a good habit. (1)

it 作形式主语的常见句型：

(2)There is no point (in) doing...

做某事是没用/无意义的

E.g. There is no point in _________(get) angry. 3) doing作宾语: (1)avoid，advise，allow，admit appreciate,consider,enjoy, forbid,mind, suggest,finish,keep,mind 后用doing Tom has admitted _________(break) the window. We should avoid ______(make) the same mistake．

Have you considered ________(look) for one special friend? (2)be busy,be fond of, be worth, can't stand,feel like,give up, set about, insist on, dream of, keep/stop/prevent/protect...from... spend (in), succeed in, look forward to, pay attention to后用doing sth. 4) 接doing 又接to do 的动词:

(1) like, love, hate, begin,start, prefer, attempt,continue后跟doing和to do是一样的。

(2) 在动词forget, remember, regret后的doing 表示做过某事，to do 表示要做某事；

I remember posting the letter．

I’ll remember to post the letter．

I shall never forget seeing the famous writer．

Don’t forget to write to your mother．

I regret missing the report．

I regret to say I can’t take your advice．

(3)意义不同: try to do 努力

try doing 试着

mean to do 打算做

mean doing 意味着

stop doing 停止做某事

stop to do停下来去做另一件事

be used to doing

习惯于做某事

被用来做某事
