三阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)

A LONDON (Reuters) —

Organic (有机的) fruit, sent right to the home. That is what Gabriel Gold prefers, and he is willing to pay for it. If this is not possible, the 26-year-old computer engineer will spend more money at the supermarket to buy organic food. "Organic food is always better," Gold said. "The food is free of pesticides (农药), and you are

generally for family farms instead of large farms. And often it is locally grown and seasonal, so it is more tasty." Gold is one of a growing number of shoppers buying the organic fruit, and supermarkets across Britain are depending more on people like him. But how many shoppers really know what they are getting, and why are they willing to pay a higher price for organic food? Market research shows that Gold and others who buy organic food can generally give clear reasons for their choices —

but their knowledge of organic food is far from complete. For example, small amounts of pesticides can be used on organic food. And about three quarters of organic food in Britain is not local but imported (进口) to meet growing needs. "The needs for organic food are increasing by about one third every year, so it is a very fast-growing market," said Sue Flock, a specialist in this business. ( )36. More and more people in Britain are buying organic food because________.

they think the food is free of pollution

B. Organic food — to grow or not?

C. Organic food — qualities or quantities?

D. Organic food — to import or not? ( )40. This passage is most probably ________.

A. a market report

B. a science report B Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, “Mum, you must come and see the daffodils (水仙花) before they are over.” I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Lake Arrowhead. “I will go next Tuesday,” I promised, a little unwillingly, on her third call.

The next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and so I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn’s house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren, I said, “Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible (看不见的) in the cloud and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see!”

C. a medicine report

D. a news report

My daughter smiled calmly and said, “We drive in this weather all the time, Mum. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience.”

After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand-lettered sign that read“Daffodil Garden”.

We got out of the car and each took a child’s hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. Then, we turned a corner of the path, and I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most beautiful sight! There were five acres of flowers! “But who has done this?” I asked Carolyn. “It's just one woman,” Carolyn answered. “That's her home,” Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house that looked small and modest in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house. On the patio (庭院), we saw a poster. “Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking” was the headline.

The first answer was a simple one. “50,000 bulbs (鳞茎),” it read. The second answer was, “One at a time, by one woman.” The third answer was, “Began in 1958.”

I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than fifty years before, had begun—one bulb at a time—to bring the beauty and joy to the mountain top.

41. The author didn’t go to see the daffodils at first because ________________.

A. she was not interested in them

B. they were growing on the mountain top

C. the weather was not good enough

D. it was not easy for her to drive there

A. She must be out of mind.

B.It took her great efforts to grow the daffodils.

C. She was poor and made her living by selling daffodils.

D. She was a gardener there.

43. What could the author probably learn from this experience?

A. Nothing is too difficult if you put your heart into it.

B. We must put the interests of others above our own.

C. We can change the world by growing flowers.

D. It's never too late to learn.

44. What would be the best title for the passage?

Kids' health: Four steps for fighting stress

Everybody gets stressed from time to time.

46

Some ways of dealing with stress-like screaming or hitting someone-don't solve(解决)much. But other ways, like talking to someone you trust, can lead you to solve your problem or at least feel better.

Try taking these four steps the next time you are stressed:

(1) Get support. When you need help, reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent or other relatives.

47

They might have had similar problems, such as dealing with a test, or the death of a beloved pet.

(2)

48

Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset, they take it out on themselves. Oh, dear, that's not a good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you. Don't take it

out on yourself. Ask for a helping hand to get you through the tough situation.

(3) Try to solve the problem. After you're calm and you have support from adults and friends, it's time to get down to business.

49

Even if you can't solve it all, you can solve a piece of it.

(4) Be positive. Most stress is temporary (暂时的). Remember stress does go away, especially when you figure out the problem and start working on solving it. These steps aren't magic, but they do work. And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a tough time, you'll help yourself feel better even faster.

50

. A.Notice your friends' feelings and find a way to help them. B. Don't take it out on yourself. C. Different people feel stressed in different ways. D. Ah, it feels so good when the stress is gone.

E.You need to figure out what the problem is. F. And don't forget about your friends.

G.Then, find a way to calm down. 四.语法填空(共10小题,
