Unit 2. Working the land Period4. Learning about language Ⅰ. Brief analysis of the teaching material The topic of this unit is working the land, by studying of which, the students will be able to know more about the development of agriculture in our country. And its functional items persuasion. This period is the part after reading, which plays an important part in the English teaching in this unit. From this lesson, students will be guided not only to consolidate the language points in the text, also most importantly students can grasp the usage of doing form as subject and object, by which students can realize every kind of learning aim, such as speaking, language study, grammar study and so on.

Ⅱ. Analysis of students

Students of this age are quick in thought and they are eager to show what they know, so they seem more enthusiastic to be involved in each activity, which is very useful in English language learning. However, most of the students are lack of confidence to speak English correctly, and they depend too much on the teachers in learning. Therefore, what I pay more attention in this 20-minute class is to encourage everyone to be interested in English and to speak it bravely, to learn it freely. 1

Summary The design of this lesson is based on Task-based Learning Approach and Situational Learning Approach. The teaching procedures carry on from the basic task to the advanced one in a relaxed atmosphere. The students play the principal part in every activity while the teacher is the guide and organizer. The students

all work in each activity and are encouraged to learn by doing and do by learning. In this way, they will take a more active part in the tasks and become more confident. As a result, every student will raise their English level and improve their integrating abilities.
