Students can act out the story if possible . Teaching Aids : PPT , cards , pictures , gold coins , dot-reading machine Teaching Time : one lesson Teaching Procedure: 一、Warming up : 1. Greetings . 2. Play a game. 【设计意图：课前的热身游戏，希望能活跃课堂气氛，调动学生学习的积极性，同时也与下面的导入相关联。】

3. Lead-in : T: Are you happy ?

Ss: Yes. T: But Pat is not happy . He is very sad . Do you know Pat ? 二、Presentation and Practice : 1. Show the photo of Pat.

2. Show the word : sofa . Show and read the title . 3. Watch a video of the story .【设计意图：课前会让学生初步浏览故事，对故事的内容会有一个大致的了解，观看故事的表演视频则更加直观，更加有助于学生理解故事大意,而且观看视频会更加吸引学生的注意力。】

4. Show the new word and phrase: lamp , 5 gold coins 5. Blackboard the words and phrase. 6. Read the words and phrase after the teacher. 7. The teacher takes a bag of gold coins and shows the new sentence :

Here’s a bag of gold coins. 8. Blackboard the sentence . 9. Explain the meaning of the sentence and practice .(创设情境) 10. T: Look, Pit and Pat have got a bag of gold coins , so they come to a shop , they want to buy something . 11. Listen to the whole story. Try to answer questions : 12. Check the answers. 13. Learn the story in three parts.(Part A: Picture1-5; Part B:Picture 6-11; PartC: Picture 12-18) Part A/Task1: 1. Listen to Picture 1to 5 , try to answer :

How much is the sofa? 2. Check the answer . 3. Show the new sentences :

I can’t give it to you . 4. Explain and practice the sentence .【设计意图：创设情境是英语故事教学的一个非常重要的途径，比如I can’t give it to you. 这个句子，直接讲解的效果并不好，倒不如创设情境让学生更容易理解。】

5. Read from Picture 1 to Picture 5 . 6. Watch the video of Part A .

7. Act out Part A . Part B/Task 2: 1. Listen to Picture 6 to 11 and answer questions .

I can’t find my book . Let’s take it back. 3. Explain the meaning of the sentences .(使用肢体语言和创设情境)【设计意图：教师要擅于使用肢体语言，因为肢体语言有时候能够帮助学生更直观地理解句子的意思。】

4. Practice the sentences . 5. Read from Picture 6 to Picture 11 . 6. Watch the video of Part B . 7. Act out Part 2 . Part C/Task 3 : 1. learn from Picture 12 to Picture 18 by the students themselves .【设计意图：这部分让学生自学，出于两点考虑：一是有意给学生保留一部分自由学习的时间，旨在让学生自由发挥、形成自学的意识；二是时间问题，考虑到时间可能不够，所以这一部分只会简单讲解，“一笔带过”。】
