一、教学目标

1. Knowledge aims Learn to use the important words, expressions and sentence structures about wildlife and the wildlife protection. 2. Ability aims a. Guide students to pay selective attention to the text and choose different reading strategies accordingly to strengthen students’ reading skills.

b. Enable students to think about wildlife protection. c. Enable students to talk about the topic of wildlife protection. 3. Emotional aims a. Enable students to realize the importance of wildlife protection. b. Enable students to realize they are able to help in their daily lives. 二、学情分析

Students have adjusted to the high school English classes and they are eager to learn, but their language ability varied. 三、重难点

Important Points: 1. Learn the words and expressions in this unit. 2. Help students understand the passage better and learn something about wildlife protection. 3. Enable students to realize the importance of wildlife protection. Difficult points: How to use words and expressions to talk about endangered animals and wildlife protection.

四、教学过程

Step1: Warming up

1. Make students guess one word about animals to make idioms based on their common knowledge. 2. Make students think about the present situation of wild animals by raising questions and help them think about the reasons by means of many pictures.

Step 2 Pre-reading

Get students learn to predict the main idea of the passage through the title and the pictures (Task-based Approach)

Step3 While-reading

1. Skimming Ask students to find out where Daisy went and who she met to get the general idea of the passage. Then divide the passage into three parts. (Task-based Approach) 2. Read paragraph one Enjoy a video of paragraph one and fill in the blanks. (Reading skill: Pay selective attention to the present progressive passive voice.) 3. Read paragraph two Ask students to read paragraph two and do true or false questions. 4. Read paragraph three&four Ask students to read the last two paragraphs and complete the dialogue between Daisy and monkey. Later ask two students to read the dialogue with emotion.

5. Summary

Ask students to summarize what they have leant. 6. Discussion Let students think about the relationship among rainforest, animals and human beings. Guide students to think deeply about the importance of wildlife protection based on a higher level of understanding of the whole passage to arouse their own willingness to protect wildlife.

Step 4 Post-reading

1. Activity: speak for animals Divide students into six groups to do the tasks. The evaluation standard is provided.

Step 1 Draw an endangered animal

--- 1-3points

Step 2 Give a title or a slogan (口号) for the animal

--- 1-3 points

Step 3 Why is it endangered? Write the threats(威胁) it faces --- 4 points

(less than 4 sentences.) After that, groups will show their pictures to the class, and other students evaluate the works. (Group Work) 2. Watch a short video《杀手之家》

Show students that wildlife protection is not far away from our daily lives. Get them keep in mind that when the buying stops, the killing can too.

This video is designed to enable students to realize the importance of wildlife protection and that they are able to help in their daily lives. Each group draws an endangered animal that they want to speak for. Each group is required to give a title or a slogan and list the threats it faces.

Step 5 Homework

Write an article about what we students can do to help endangered animals.
