Fun Facts The World’s Biggest Library

一、教学目标： 知识技能

1.

能听懂、会说单词和词组 Library of Congress, items, wonderful, read quietly,Internet. 2.

能读懂、会用本课及课外的基本句型进行有关‘图书馆’活动的描述。 3.

能听懂、会运用本课所学阅读技巧进行‘图书馆’英语材料的学习。 4. 通过阅读学习‘图书馆’的相关知识，了解课文以外更多的图书馆信息。

学习策略

1. 教会学生在阅读的过程中快速获取关键信息。 2. 引导学生整体阅读课文对话，理解课文细节信息。

3．引导学生借助关键词进行课文内容的复述。

情感态度

1. 培养学生积极用英语表达的情感态度。 2. 培养学生多去图书馆看书，学习知识，热爱学习的情感态度。

二、教学重难点：

1. 通过阅读学习学会谈论儿童节和叙述儿童节的相关活动。 2. 对高年级学生英语阅读方法的指导。 三、课前准备：PPT、阅读材料

四、教学过程：

Step 1:Lead-in 1.

T: Introduce myself:My name,age,country and hobby.

(As for hobby, I like reading books very much.I often read books in the library.) （设计意图：通过自我介绍，拉近与学生之间的距离，由爱好引出本课主题“图书馆”）

T: Compare the items between different libraries, Let Ss find the biggest library in Tianjin.

The World’s Biggest Library: Library of Congress.

Ss: According to the number of library items, find the biggest library in Tianjin. Then learn The World’s Biggest Library: Library of Congress. (设计意图：通过对比馆藏品数量，由天津最大的图书馆引出世界最大的图书馆，让学生更易理解biggest的含义）

Step 2: Pre-reading 1.

突破标题发音（Library of Congress) 2.

T:What’s in a library?

Ss: Think library has what.(eg.books,maps,...)

(设计意图：由图书馆物品引出所有在图书馆的物品都称为items，学生通过图文并茂的形式能够轻松理解item的含义，也为本文找出最大图书馆的原因做铺垫。）

Step 3: While-reading Skimming: 1.

T: Listen to the passage. Let’s feel How big the library is and How many items in the world’s biggest library.

Ss: Listen , feel and try to catch the important information.

(118 million items) (设计意图：让学生通过听觉感知国会图书馆之大，并在听的过程中能够锻炼学生捕捉信息的能力）

T:Listen to the para 2 and find “What items in the biggest library?”

Ss: books, maps ,important old papers....

T: 讲解破折号的作用

（设计意图：通过听让学生找出图书馆的馆藏品，并在此时讲解这些馆藏品都是在解释item的含义，破折号的作用是解释说明。教会学生通过符号和联系上下文猜测词义的阅读技巧）

T: Read the first and second paragraph, Fill in the blanks. Ss: Read and find the world’s biggest library’s

name,address,start time,items. (设计意图：让学生通过精读前两段，找出最大图书馆的信息，让学生通过自己阅读的方式去了解国会图书馆。）

Group Work: Let’s talk: What can you do in a library? Ss: I can... Then, Ss read para 3,find “What can you do in the world’s biggest library?

(设计意图：让学生通过思考猜测和小组合作探讨出在图书馆丽能做什么，进而引出在最大图书馆里能做什么，有什么不同之处）

T: Things you can’t do in the library (设计意图：通过图文并茂的形式展示在图书馆里不能做的事，并渗透情感教育，遵守规则）

Ss: Read and choose. (设计意图：通过让学生读文章并选择的方式进行最后一段阅读的处理，有利于锻炼学生筛选信息的能力）

Step 4: Post-reading 1.

(设计意图：在对整篇文章进行了阅读后，让学生通过做判断的方式巩固本文的学习。）

Group work: Let’s say: Tell me about your library. Give Ss some information of different libraries and language supports. Ss: Talk about the library in the card in their group.

(设计意图：学生通过前面回答问题获得的奖励信封里有一张关于图书馆的信息卡片，学生可根据信息和语言支持来进行图书馆的介绍。既让学生有合作学习的意识，又锻炼了学生的综合语言运用能力。）
