Although the students have understood the basic structure of a sentence as well as known some kinds of clause can serve as the subject and object

of sentences, they may still have difficulty in understanding how the V-ing structure would act as the subject and object of sentences. Therefore, enough practice and recitation of the structures are required. Analysis of teaching It is known that nouns can be subject and object in sentences ,but how can we make correct sentences when the verb phrases are provided to be subject or object in sentences? That is what we guide the Ss to learn something new about subject and object in sentences in this period. And it should be paid more attention to helping rid Ss of only nous being subject and object in sentences.

Step 1: Warming up

Invite some Ss to recite the key words and phrases, or ask some to make sentences. 

Step 2: Leading-in Translate a sentence:“眼见为实。Seeing is believing.”

“我喜欢唱歌。I like singing.”

Request the class to analyze the structure of the two sentences, understanding what the subject and object are, in order to lead in the functions of the V-ing structure: as subject and object.



Step 3: Detailed study 1.

Introduce the definition of gerund, which is one of the names of the V-ing structure. 2.
