1. Enable the students to learn the new words and expressions in the reading passage. 2. Enable the students to learn something about Yuan Longping and his super hybrid rice. 3. Enable the students to sum up the main ideas using key words.

1.Brainstorm before reading to cause students to think about Agriculture. 2.Skimming and scanning to understand the passage and find some information. 3.Discussions to help students to use what they’ve learned to make a comment. VI．Teaching Procedures:（教学步骤）

Step 1.Lead-in and warming-up 1.Greet students （by asking a question “how are you today”）

2.Ask Students some questions about what their grandparents ate in that time(they have nothing to eat but the trees) 3. Show a short video to introduce famine(now,let us enjoy the short video,after watching the video,ask some questions: how do you feel?And why did they suffer from the famine?famine means hunger) T：Yes,but more than that.I think another important reason is that we have a large population,but you see we have the limited grounds to plant the crops(show two pictures to make a contrast). T:By asking a question to move onto the next part. Step 2.Pre-reading and skimming 1.Please read the teaching aims together. 2.Ask one student to recite the words and the phrases(let us check our homework) 3.Ask students to read two paragraphs. 4.After reading ,now ,let us answer some questions: What is the main idea of the passage? What is he famous for? What is his dream? Step 3.Pair work---- to be a teacher A student will be the teacher. （In this part,I will ask one student to be a teacher of all of you.who would like to have a try?）

Now,I will give you two minutes to prepare to fill in these blanks. Step 5.Performance Say something about Yuan Longping. Step 6.Make a summary What we have learned in this class? Step 7.Moral education and enjoy the poem-悯农
