What’s the cause of dinosaurs’ extinction?

Ask the students to do a revision about Animal Extinction and recall the knowledge about the cause of dinosaurs’ extionction.

Step 2 Listening

Listen to the Story of Dodo and answer five questions:

(1). Where did DODO live?

(2). Why did DODO believe Man? (3). What happened to the number of DODO Birds after Man come?

(4). When did DODO realize Man had

killed many of his friends?

(5). What’s DODO Bird’s motto?

Keys:

(1) On the island of Mauritius.

(2) Because Man was so kind.

(3) Decreased quickly. (4) He saw Man killed his last friend by himself.

(5) Be careful who you trust.

Step 3 Post- listening

After listening, ask students to guess what is the cause of dodo’s extinction.

Step 4 Pre-writing: dicussion

Based on listening part, encourage students to brainstorm about the reasons for animals’

dying out and discuss measures of wildlife protection. (2)

Teacher should give students some tips. ( Show on the PPT screen as follows.) Reasons:

They are hunted and killed because of their fur and meat.

They don’t have enough food

Their habitats are destroyed.

Suppose you are Li Ming. Plese write a letter to WWF based on what you have discussed, asking them to help you save the animals.

(1) Give students parts of the letter and ask them to finish it according to the Chinese. Dear WWF,

Secondly, making educational programs will be a good idea. As a very important organization, WWF should provide knowledge and information about the wildlife protection for more people

Thirdly, WWF should cooperate with primary and middle schools. Students are supposed to refuse to eat wildlife animals and try their best to plant some tress that can protect their environment.

In sum, it is necessary to male it a long-term project. I believe that with your help animals will survive better. Please help them.
