I. The analysis of the teaching material

This topic is a reading passage from Module2, Unit 3. Through this passage, I’ll enable students to know more about the story of the computers 1.Teaching Aims: 1.1Knowledge Aims:

To develop students’ abilities of listening, reading and speaking. 2)

Senior high school students are eager to learn something they are interested in. The topic in this unit is about robots, which is a topic that can arouse students’ discussion on artficial intelligence. So I will try my best to attract students’ attention in this class. III. The teaching methods. 1.

Communicative approach IV. The teaching procedure. Step1. discussion. What can a robot do in our daily life?

Purpose: To arouse students’ interest in this passage through imagination. Step2. Fast Reading I will give students 5 minutes to skim the passage quickly and then answer the following questions. Q1: What does Andy serve as on the football team? Q2. Why didAndy think the team that won first place cheat? Purpose: to enable students to know the general meaning of the passage.

Step3. Careful Reading. I will ask students to read the passage paragraph by paragraph to grasp the details in it. Q1:How often are the androids allowed to get together to play a football game? Q2:Where did Andy first compete ? Q3:What does Andy’s programmer programs him with?

Purpose: to understand the passage by using different reading skills. Step4. Language points. 1.

Discussion Imagine that you are an android, you are asked to do the housework for a family , and also to watch over their baby. What would you do? How would you feel? Purpose: to express students’ own ideas and opinions on robots. Step6. Homework. 1.Can you design your own robot? Purpose: students can summarize the passage and master the key sentences.
