Unit 1 My Neighbourhood

Lesson 1

Teaching aims:

1. Master language of daily greetings.

Key vocabulary and phrases:

across from, next to, between, restaurant, post office, bank, grocery. 2. Be skilled in oral expression of countries.

Teaching steps:(教学步骤)

Step 1. Warmer:

1.Greeting to each other. 2.Chant together.

Step 2. Lead in:

T: Good, class. We chanted with some places: school, park, etc. And they’

ve in a same area. It’s a neighbourhood. So, today we’ll learn a new lesson: Unit1 My Neighbourhood.

What can you see in this neighbourhood?

Ss: ...... T: Yes. You can see them, and you can do different things in these different places.

E.g: I want to have a walk. I can go to a park.

I want to read books. I can go to a library or a bookshop.

I want to see some animals. I can go to a zoo Step 3. Presentation:

T: As you know it’s a neighbourhood. Yaoyao’s home is here. Can you see? It’s Yaoyao’s neighbourhood. Today, her aunt comes to visit her family. And Yaoyao is showing her around the neighbourhood.

1. If you’re Yaoyao, and I’m her aunt, do you want to help me to know it? Ss: Yes.

Q1: I want some stamps and sent this letter. Where shall I go?

Ss: Post office.(Learn the word)

Step 4. Activities:

1.Listen to the CD -ROM, and circle the words of places.

2.

Read the dialogue together.

3.Show Yaoyao’s neighbourhood again. And prompt them to answer: -- Where is the...?

-- It’s next to/ between/ across from the...

(After answering the questions, stick the pictures in correct place on the board.)

4.Group work:

Show them other neighbourhood, and encourage the students to ask and answer like above. ( According to their paper sheet.)

Step 5. Consolidation:

1.T: Let’s go to see Joy’s neighbourhood together. Joy is going to show

her aroud the neighbourhood. Listen carefully and try to write down the correct places in the blanks. (Page 4 Part B)

Work in pairs and make dialogues.

3.

Write down the answer. -- Where is the bank?

-- It’s between the supermarket and the Sunday Park.

4.Draw your own neighbourhood. And introduce it to your classmates.

( Draw it on your paper sheet and write down some sentences about it.)

Homework:

1.Remember the new words and phrases;
