Teaching aids: The multimedia, the book , pictures and chalk

Teaching procedures Step 1 Greeting and warming up (1) Greeting as usually (2) Chant all together to review the words about weather. T: What words about weather are mentioned in the chant? SS: ...... Step 2 Leading-in Listen and sing all together.

T: What’s the weather like in this song? Ss: It’s rainy. T: Do the children want to play? SS: Yes. T: But they can’t. Because it’s rainy. They are not happy. How about them? Please look and answer my questions. Then the students have a look at the first picture of the story and then try to answer the questions. Q1. What animals can you see?

Q2. What’s the weather like now? Step 3. Learning the story (1)General comprehension The students look at their books, listen to the tape and read silently in order to comprehend the story as a whole. (2) Look at Picture One and then listen and repeat. Then discuss the weather and the monkey and cat’s action. The students try to answer the three questions.

Q1. What’s the weather like at first? Q2. Where are Monkey and Cat? Q3. What can they do? While the students answer, the teacher sticks the small pictures of Monkey , Cat and the weather on the blackboard and then write these on the blackboard “cloudy and rainy,

make a model plane”. (3) Look at Picture Two and Three, then listen and repeat. And then answer the questions: Q1. What’s the weather like now?

Q2. Where do Monkey and Cat want to go? While the students answer, the teacher writes “ sunny” on the blackboard. (4) Look at Picture Four and Five, then listen and repeat. And then answer the questions: Q1. Where are they going? Q2. What can they do there? While the students answer, the teacher sticks the small pictures of the weather and the place on the blackboard. Then the teacher writes “ sunny and windy,

fly a kite” on the blackboard. (5) Look at Picture Six, then listen and repeat. And then answer the question: Q1. What happens when they fly a kite? Q2. Why does the monkey’s cap fly away? While the students answer, the teacher sticks the small pictures of the weather and the cap on the blackboard.

Step 4 Reading and role-play The students look, listen and repeat in order to understand the story further. Then they role play the story in teams of four. At last some volunteers perform their story.

Step 5 Extensions (1) Read the story in groups and then retell the story with the help of the small

pictures and key words on the blackboard . Then the students retell with the help of the words on the screen. (2) Discussion Listen to the tape and then discuss the questions: Q1.Where is the monkey’s cap then(然后)?

Q2. Who can get the cap for monkey? Why?

Step 6. Homework Read the story again and try to retell the story by yourself.
