Lesson8 Tiger and Bears

Step 1 greeting and warming up

After greeting with the students, I will begin the lesson by singing the song ‘Old MactDonald Had a Farm’

with the students together, then ask them some questions about last lesson Step 2 learning of the new words

I’ll set the situation of showing the new words by animal pictures. For example: I point to the picture and ask:” what’s this?” Maybe someone knows and says ‘it’s a tiger ’Yes, it’s a tiger. tiger tiger. Like this, I’ll teach other new words: wolf, bear, snake. Next I ask them to read the new words in groups. Consolidation Activity 1 I’ll flash the animal pictures and let the students read the words as quickly as they can. The fastest one will get the prize. Activity 2 let’s sing the song

Big and Small

Ask them look at the picture for Big and Small .Play the song and follow along with the words in student books. Then play the song again and sing along with making gestures to show big and small. Step 3 learning of the new sentence patterns

Open the student books on page21.Point out the two snakes. Say the words below the graphics: long. It’s long. Short, It’s short. Make gestures to show the meaning for long and short. Play the audiotape for part 3 and follow along.

Consolidation

Activity1Let the students draw two different lines, then ask their partners long or short. It can help the students using the language in a real situation,

Activity 2 I show a picture, One student does not look at it. The other students give clues to help her guess what animal they are talking about. For example, Its tail is long. It’s thin. It’s brown. What’s it? Step 4 conclusion and homework

I’ll guide the students to summarize the key words and sentences. And then ask the students to finish today’s homework: recite the new words and make more dialogues with their friends after class.
