Unit 1 Breaking Records Analysis of Teaching Material This unit mainly discusses many activities and how people try to break the records in the activities. This class is the first period of reading. The passage“The Road is always ahead of you ”

talks about Ashrita Furman broke many records and how he made it. In this way, we are showed how people succeed in some fields. It is interesting and will for sure arouse the students’ interest. According to the new Curriculum Criteria, I decide to adopt Task-based Learning (TBL). The students will be given tasks to talk about the champions in the Olympic games and express their attitudes toward breaking records. In 教材分析

this way, not only will the students' learning motivation be greatly stimulated, but also their communication skills will be effectively improved. In the meantime, they will raise the awareness in participating in activities and hold a positive attitude towards them. The New Curriculum Reform also requires the student to obtain and analysis the information in English by summarization and reasoning. It is a challenge for the students. I decide to use a chart and a timeline to break through the difficult points in this period. Just as the Constructivism suggests, tables such as charts can clearly show the relation between the information and will make it easier for the students to understand the language points.
