教材分析：

本课时涵盖两部分内容：词汇学习与本单元语法学习。词汇学习部分主要用来帮助学生更好地掌握阅读课文中的词语。此部分的的三个练习题采用层层递进的设题模式，帮助学生理解词汇的意义并将词汇活用于上下文中。语法学习部分主要是帮助学生了解并掌握动词-ing形式做主语和宾语的用法。通过“讲解---操练---总结---巩固”的教学模式让学生能够理解并能够运用动词-ing形式作主语和宾语。

教学目标：

Step One: Revision Warming up by reading aloud the text A PIONEER FOR ALL PEOPLE. Language is learned in context. So let’s first review the text we learned yesterday by reading it aloud. Try to force out your English slowly and clearly.

Step Two : Discovering useful words and expressions In pairs do the exercises 1, 2 and 3 on pages 12. You must finish each one in 5 minutes. 1.

Step Three : Discovering useful structures

Give students to look at a slide and guide them know the uses of Ving form in our daily life. Explain the uses of Ving to the students, especially the Ving is used as subject and object . 例如：

Wishing for things, however, cost nothing. （the –ing is used as subject.）

Yuan Longping likes playing his violin. （the –ing is used as object.）

Step Four : Consolidation

Consolidating To consolidate your understanding ,you will be given 10 minutes to go over exercises 1, 2, 3 and 4 on pages 13. You may just write on your text book. I mean the student’s book you are working by.
