Background Information The Material：The material is NEW SENIOR ENGLISH FOR CHINA SUTDENT’S BOOK1, the first Unit Friendship. The topic of this unit mainly talks about the importance of friendship and how to make friends with others. The reading material tells us Anne’s personal experience, her best friend Kitty. The message she talked with Kitty including some important phrases and words that guide students to form their own mind of friendship. Besides, students can learn how to make friends and keep friendship in their senior one to live a wonderful life in senior high school. The Students: There are 50 to 70 students in one class, and their average age is about 15 to 17. The students are grade one, they were born after 90s, pursuit the superstars and love the pop things. When it comes to friends, everyone will pour out words in a steady flow. And this unit closes enough to students’ daily life, help students to reflect their own friendship. Moreover as the first class of senior high school for English study, the vocabulary and grammar are not so difficult for students’ learning. The students will be interested in English learning and have fun in the class. The Instructor: As the development of knowledge, the teachers are required to handle the updated knowledge. There are more and more new words and phrases in this unit. The teachers should be open-minded and know the requirement of learners’. The whole class time is about 45 minutes, teacher is supposed to arrange the time properly. Ⅱ

Teaching Aims 1

Knowledge aims The students are able to know how to describe their best friend, friendship and the things happened to them. The students are able to look the friendship more clearly and keep their friendship permanent. The students are able to figure the sorts of the attributive clause and the adverbial clause, and to use the perfect sense. Ability aims The students are able to know how to express their mind of people and objects in English. The students are able to write an English letter to others. The students are able to improve their reading speed and judgment, and the abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Affect aims The students will have desire to make friends and share their stories with others and be more optimistic and outgoing to enjoy the senior high school life. Ⅲ

Teaching Method As is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help students develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims, (after the analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims,) I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories. 1

Teaching Aid Computer, chalk, blackboard, tapes, teaching rod, and multi-media are used to show some pictures or videos. Ⅴ

Vocabulary(5mins)

Ask students to read the vocabularies in the list, then the others to point out the wrong pronunciation. Then the teacher is supposed to give the right pronunciation of the words by the teacher or the tapes, to correct their wrong pronunciation. Find their error prone sounds. Ⅶ

Teaching Procedure

Step1. Lead-in (5mins)

Make the students do the survey on page1, and then ask their answers about the questions, and why they choose the answer. Then they can work out their score on page8. The students can share their own stories what happened to him or his friendship. Step1. Pre-reading (5mins) Show some pictures about friend, make students discuss the following questions: Please enjoy three piece of music and find what they are about? Does a friend always have to be a person? What else can be your friend? 1

What do you know about the World War Two? Background Information: Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt, a Jewish Germany. On July 6, 1942, the entire family went into hiding. On August 4, 1944, they were arrested and then released for medical care. But she died for the cold.

In May 1945, after the war ended, Otto Frank，Anne’s father, circulated her diary among his friends and relatives as a memorial, but a Dutch university professor urged him to publish the book. It was first published in Holland in 1947. Since then it has been translated into thirty-one languages.

Step3. While Reading (15mins) Ask students to read the text one by one, and make the other students to find out the readers mistakes. Then part the students into eight or ten groups, discuss the following questions.

Who is Anne? And who is her best friend? Why did Anne make her diary as her best friend? Why did she stay awake on purpose until very late one evening? Why didn’t she dare open the window when the moon was too bright? How do you understand the expressions “spellbound” and “held me entirely in their powder”?

Before the class is over, the teacher should summary the knowledge of the whole class, in order to deepen the understanding of the knowledge. And recommend the movie Diary of Anne Frank, so they could enjoy the movie, also make a deep thought of this text. Ⅸ

Assignment

After the class, the students are supposed to review, preview the knowledge, do the comprehending and learning about language. Also they can appreciate the movie Diary of Anne Frank.

Listen one or two songs about the friendship, and the next time is show time. Ⅹ

Reflective Teaching From this class, I find I am still not so perfect in the classroom teaching, for example, I didn’t have a fluent English spoken and make the students puzzled in some part. When I make my students to conclude the main meaning of the three paragraphs, they were puzzled in if to conclude the meaning of the whole text or the diary. In this part, I will make a elaborate introduction. Because this is a reading class, I put the writhing scope in it, it is not so suitable, so I will delete this part. In order to make my students have a better understand of the text, I will give them some material about the text, about Anne also some songs, movies about friendship. For me, I think the students is the center of the class, so I will 1

give them more chance to think. 1
